The objectives of the project will be achieved through activities organized in six workpackages. These include Management (WP1) and Dissemination, training and outreach (WP6). The technical work is organized in HPC Software Engineering (WP2), HPC modelling workflows and tools (WP3), Exascale pilot demonstrators (WP4) and Service validation and enabling (WP5).

From research to societal relevance: How ChEESE and urgent computing may enhance INGV´s hazard forecasting
16 October 2020
One of the partners in the ChEESE consortium is Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), the largest Italian public research body operating in the field of geophysics whose activities span from fundamental to applied research. The institute plays a role of direct societal relevance by being in charge of both hazard assessment and 24/7 real-time monitoring, early warning and forecasting for various geophysical phenomena.

ChEESE training course helps participants solve HPC issues in Earth Science
01 December 2020

Achieving high performance is a complicated task. Different levels have to be exploited - from single core performance up to cluster-wide performance. Furthermore, different techniques and skills have to be used.

Held virtually on October 26-29, 2020 the PRACE course "Tools & Techniques to quickly improve performances of HPC applications in Solid Earth" was developed in the CHEESE framework by CINECA staff to mostly focus on the main HPC issues for Earth Science.
